Which is Better for a First Course?
For someone taking their first freediving course, PADI and SSI are both excellent choices. The practical training is very similar at beginner and intermediate levels. The main practical advantage of PADI is recognition — if you earn a PADI Freediver certification and later travel to another country, the card is universally recognised.
Which is Best for Competitive Freediving?
If your goal is to compete or progress to very deep freediving (beyond 40 metres), AIDA has the strongest community and best connection to competitive events.
