About the Instructor — Christian, PADI MSDT & Freediving Instructor in South Fuerteventura
My name is Christian. I have been underwater for most of my adult life.
Twenty-five years in diving will do that to you. It starts as a hobby, becomes a profession and eventually shapes the way you see the ocean entirely. I have worked as a commercial diver, earned my PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT) and Divemaster Instructor with SSI, and spent the last six years going deeper in a very different way — learning apnea.
Freediving came to me the way most meaningful things do: gradually, then completely. I had spent decades underwater with tanks, equipment, regulators. The first time I descended on a single breath and felt the silence, something shifted. No bubbles. No noise. Just water, depth and the kind of clarity that is difficult to explain to someone who has not experienced it.
I hold my AIDA certifications, completed with Miguel Lozano and Sergio Soria — two instructors whose methodical and technical approach to apnea training shaped the way I teach. I also had the privilege of training alongside Mara Guida, world record holder in Constant Weight — an experience that gives you a clear sense of what is possible when technique, patience and dedication come together. I bring all of that into every session.
Why I Teach the Way I Do
I spent years in commercial diving — environments where precision, safety and calm under pressure are not optional. You carry that with you. It affects how you approach teaching, how you read a student, how you manage a session in open water when conditions change.
I also come from a background in contact sports. Anyone who trains seriously in martial arts or combat sports knows something that translates directly to freediving: the ability to stay calm when your body is under stress is not a talent, it is a skill. It can be trained, progressively and methodically. That is how I approach breathwork and apnea with every student.
I read a lot. I study apnea the way athletes study their sport — physiology, CO₂ tolerance, equalisation mechanics, breath-hold training methods. I am not interested in teaching what I learned once. I am interested in what actually works and why.
What I offer is not a standard diving course. It is a personal approach to freediving, breathwork and ocean confidence built on 25 years underwater, serious training and a genuine interest in helping people feel safer and more capable in the sea.

Instructors I Have Trained With
- Mara Guida — World Record Holder in Constant Weight (CWT), Lagos. One of the most respected freedivers in the world.
- Sergio Soria — Elite freediving instructor and performance coach.
- Miguel Lozano — Experienced freediving trainer with a technical and methodical approach.
Training under world-class instructors does not make you a world-class freediver automatically. But it gives you a standard — a reference for what serious, safe and progressive freediving training looks like. That standard is what I bring to every session in South Fuerteventura.
Where I Teach
All sessions take place in South Fuerteventura — Costa Calma, La Lajita, Morro Jable, Veril Grande and Playitas, depending on conditions, level and goals. I also manage Acuarios Dive Center in Costa Calma, which allows me to offer a full range of ocean activities for anyone visiting the south of the island.
Sessions are kept small and personal. That is not a marketing line — it is the only way I know how to teach properly. Freediving requires individual attention, real-time feedback and an environment where the student feels safe enough to let go of tension. You cannot do that with a group of twelve people.
If you have questions before booking, I am happy to answer them honestly. Not every course is right for every person, and I would rather tell you that upfront than take your booking and disappoint you.
